Ferenc L., Mexico City, Mexico

Mr Ferenc approached Doubell Machines with a need. He was performing repairs and maintenance to a property that had some damage. Part of his planning included the intention to hold back an embankment that kept collapsing.

The solution was to obtain retaining wall blocks to create a "retained wall" to prevent future erosion. After doing some research, he found that the blocks were expensive and considered manufacturing them himself. His journey led him to Doubell Machines were he placed an order for a retaining wall block hand mould.

After some practice, he achieved the quality and strength he desired and began producing the blocks needed for the task.

The blocks are made and then "cured" for 21 days. If they are used after 7 days, be aware that the blocks require moisture to continue the hardening process. This has more importance for bricks being used for structures where the wall is plastered because cracks can form after settling if used before. In this case, with the retaining wall blocks exposed to the weather, these blocks will continue to absorb moisture and harden throughout their lifetimes.

Following online guidelines, the first two layers were filled with concrete & rebar used to stabilise the foundation for the rest of the blocks.

With the emerald-shaped retaining wall-blocks, a contour can be created to follow the curvature of the land or aesthetics of the building.

Because the blocks have centre cavities, filling with a sand or soil medium will allow plants to eventually grow and form a beautiful cascade of flora.

The blocks themselves are also act as quick-access steps in an "unofficial" capacity.
